Walt Disney Studios 2017 Motion Picture Slate

Walt Disney Studios has released their 2017 Motion Picture Slate. Once again, they have an epic lineup to entertain everyone. There is everything from live-action, nature, adventure, superheroes, animation all the way to “Star Wars Episode VIII”.

“Beauty and the Beast” starts the year with a live-action adaption on March 17, 2017. It is a dark and romantic musical fantasy film directed by Bill Condon and written by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos. You know this will be spectacular! A tale as old as time…

Disneynature delivers “Born in China” on April 21, 2017. Narrated by Jon Krasinski (Amazon’s “Jack Ryan”, Monsters University, Arrested Development). This film explores the wilds of China where few people have ventured before.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” delivers the next mixtape to theaters on May 5, 2017. We catch up with team’s adventures in the outer reaches of the cosmos. This latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper with many others. Can’t wait to see “Awesome Mixtape #2” on the big screen. I miss Baby Groot!

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” hits theaters on May 26, 2017 with Johnny Depp returning as Captain Jack Sparrow. This much loved franchise needs little fan fair and will attract crowds so remember to get your tickets early to catch Captain Jack Sparrow search for the trident of Poseidon.

Pixar’s “Cars 3” drives into our lives on June 16, 2017. This might be just the one you need to check out in 3D. Lightning McQueen voiced by Owen Wilson (Zoolander, Zoolander 2, Wedding Crashers) is back in the fast lane but maybe not for long. He teams up with Cruz Ramirez voiced by Cristela Alonzo (Cristela, Mind of Mencia). This should be a lot of fun!

Marvel Studios “Thor: Ragnorak” conquers theaters on November 3, 2017. Hunky Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor and finds himself imprisoned on the other side of the universe. As if that weren’t bad enough, he now has to battle his former ally the Hulk played by Mark Ruffalo. This is going to be really epic! I think we will see it a couple of times.

Pixar’s “Coco” hits theaters on November 22, 2017. Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel, voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez, dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz, voice of Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order, Miss Congeniality, Despicable Me 2). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector, voice of Gael García Bernal, and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. Directed by Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3”), co-directed by Adrian Molina (story artist “Monsters University”) and produced by Darla K. Anderson (“Toy Story 3”).

Last but not least we have “Star Wars Episode VIII” arriving from a galaxy far far away into theaters on December 15, 2017. Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) just left us less than a month ago. She would still want us to see her hard work and skillful acting in the newest addition to the “Star Wars” franchise. May the force be with her and all of us.
