Seattle Tops the Charts with Lesbian Couples

Thanks to the lesbian community, Seattle has more gay and lesbian households than San Francisco. According to the Census Bureau, Seattle has topped the charts with the growing number of gay and lesbian couples living in the city. The numbers came to 2.6 percent of the Seattle population. This is not a count of the entire community but of gay and lesbian couples living under the same roof in each of the cities. Seattle happens to be the only city with a full percentage point directly attributed to lesbian couples.

San Francisco has topped the chart since measuring started in 2000 but came in with 2.5 percent at last count. Minneapolis is in a close third with 2.5 percent.  San Francisco does still tops the chart in the number of gay male couples in the city. The Bureau has been measuring the percentage of gay and lesbian couples in the top fifty cities since 2000.
