Cher Announces New Album Of ABBA Covers Following “Mamma Mia 2”

Yes, Cher just announced that is releasing a new album of ABBA covers! Can you believe it! Her role in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again must have really inspired her.

“It’s not what you would think of when you think of ABBA, ’cause I did it in a different way,” singer says. In Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Cher plays Ruby, the grandmother of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) which means she is the mother of Donna (Meryl Streep). This might be a bit of a stretch since Cher is only 3 years older than Streep…

Cher made the big announcement on The Today Show. “After I did ‘Fernando’ [in the movie] I thought it would really be fun to do an album of ABBA songs, so I did,” she told Today. In the movie, she sings “Fernando” with Andy Garcia.
