Review: Cirque Du Soleil VOLTA Is Pure High-Adrenaline Pleasure

Cirque du Soleil VOLTA is a feast for your eyes and ears with a profound message. Cirque is long known for creating amazing spectacles laced with artistry, athleticism and even comedy. The company describes this show as “energetic, urban and contemporary” and I couldn’t agree more.

VOLTA is Cirque du Soleil’s 15th show in Seattle since 1990 and the West Coast premiere for this latest production. They have amped up the vibe in VOLTA by adding things like electronic music and BMX racers. This high-adrenaline show is sure to amaze.

Cirque du Soleil VOLTA tells a story of self-acceptance and discovery. It is a journey to find yourself and recognize your power and worth. People are inherently different, and that is a good thing. The world would be a sad and boring place if everyone were the same. The story follows Waz, a game show contestant, who has become a husk of himself and lost his uniqueness to mediocrity. Instead of claiming his real power, he clings to the thought that fame will bring him love and acceptance while also making him whole again. The journey takes him through many adventures and tests while riveting the crowd.

This show incorporates so many disparate parts that combine to become a magnificent and cohesive program. Cirque has updated their offerings and paid great attention to their crowds. They have added in never-before-seen under the Big Top acrobatics and stunts to attract new viewers but kept the stunning elements that keep longtime fans coming back year after year.
Some of the highlights include the new BMX racers, trampoline wall, shape diving and a woman suspended by just her hair. I don’t want to give away all of their secrets. You have to get to Marymoor Park and see this new show!

Cirque du Soleil VOLTA runs at Marymoor Park through November 4, 2018. Gate and show time vary. Get more info and 20% off tickets here. You can also use promo code EQUALITY20 if needed. Remember to allow plenty of time for traffic and parking.
