4 Issues That Will Obliterate Any Relationship

No one wants their relationship to end prematurely. However, ensuring that a relationship continues to work takes effort and some people simply aren’t willing to put in the right amount of effort to guarantee success. Part of this involves being aware of the issues that will kill any relationship. Here are some examples that you should keep in mind along with why they can be such a dangerous concern.

Addiction
First, let’s think about the issue of addiction. When people think of addiction, they often think in terms of drugs and alcohol. However, you can be addicted to virtually anything from gambling to TV or even sex. The problem with an addiction is that it takes away the energy and time that you should be putting into your relationship. Research shows that significant levels of addiction will also begin to rewire your brain and make you think differently. It can also play havoc with your mood, causing problems with both depression as well as hyperactivity. That’s why it’s important to get support as soon as you notice an issue like this. For instance, if you think you may have a sex addiction, you should consider consulting with a sex therapist for expert support.

Distrust
Trust is earned and when it’s gone from a relationship it’s difficult, though not impossible, to build it back. You should start any relationship with the intention to trust your partner. You should then only be suspicious of them if they give you a reason to be. This could include a history of cheating or lying. In contrast, if your partner has always distrusted you without reason, then this will become exhausting. You’ll constantly be trying to prove yourself and you’ll need to work on this issue together. Some people simply need a little reassurance due to their own past experiences.

Low Energy
You will always struggle to maintain a positive relationship if you have a low level of energy. Without the right level of energy, you’ll struggle to put in the time and effort to help a relationship thrive. That’s why it’s important to focus on your physical and mental health. Simply ensuring that you are getting enough sleep each night will be a positive for your relationship. If you wake up exhausted, then it could indirectly begin to impact your connection with your partner.

Disrespect
Finally, you need to consider the issue with disrespect. If you aren’t giving respect to your partner, then you will also be disrespecting the relationship as a whole. Disrespect can come in a variety of forms from simply not showing gratitude to physical and emotional abuse. If you do believe that there’s a lack of respect in your relationship, then couples counseling can be the answer. However, you will need to ensure that the situation isn’t too far gone before you take this step.

We hope this helps you understand why these issues can destroy your relationship and the steps that you will need to take to avoid a disaster in these types of situations.
